Collaborating Practitioners
As part of an integrative practice, we believe that collaboration with practitioners at IFMA, colleagues in the community, and community organizations is necessary for successful, sustainable health care. We welcome sharing clients and learning from one another as we grow as a thriving network of healers. Below are some of the individuals, practices, and groups that we have developed relationships with already. Some of these practices offer discounts to members of our Integrative Life Program. Lara Diaz, L.Ac, Dipl.O.M. (NCCAOM) is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Lara received her four-year acupuncture and herbalism training at Daoist Traditions in Asheville, NC. She takes a holistic approach to health and has successfully treated a variety of acute and chronic conditions with Chinese Medicine from seasonal allergies, to pain reduction, to autoimmune disease and mental and emotional disorders. Lara employs a variety of techniques with her patients including Acupuncture, Chinese and Western Herbs, Cupping, Reflexology, and individualized Dietary Therapy. As an herbalist, Lara produces and sells customized original and classical Chinese herbal tinctured formulas for her patients.

Maegan Davis, L.Ac, Dipl.O.M. (NCCAOM) graduated from the Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts with a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Dedicated to higher learning, she is currently enrolled in the Professional Doctorate program at her alma mater. This advanced program builds on the Masters program, with in-depth studies in orthopedics, gynecology, research, endocrinology, collaborative care with Western Medicine professionals, and additional supervised clinical hours. Maegan personalizes each treatment based on her patient’s unique presentation and needs, weaving in various modalities including acupuncture, herbal medicine, food therapy, essential oils, gua sha, and cupping in a supportive and warm environment. She incorporates classical and modern approaches in order to create the most effective treatments.Previously, Maegan graduated with a BS in Environmental Studies with a focus in environmental education and a minor in sociology. She also taught nutrition and garden education through Americorps and worked to strengthen local food systems and access in rural communities in Vermont. Maegan has been teaching yoga for ten years and currently holds weekly classes in Asheville.

Tricia Renshaw, DPT, was born and raised in Newark, Delaware and lived in various states along the east coast since her formative years. She received a BS in Dance from Skidmore College in 2008 and later went on to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of North Florida. After graduating in April of 2011, she relocated to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Since entering the field she has worked in various settings from acute care to out-patient clinics, allowing her to enjoy an array of experiences and expand her knowledge in the rehabilitation continuum. In 2013 she received her certification in Clinical Neuromuscular and Structural Bodywork after 115 hours of post-doctoral study which has enhanced her manual proficiency in the area of soft tissue mobilization and structural balancing. In addition to practicing physical therapy, she is a professor of dance at Western Carolina University and serves as the Assistant Artistic Director at the Asheville Ballet where she teaches, choreographs, and performs. Outside of dance and physical therapy, she enjoys spending time with her love, Andrew, doing yoga, hiking, traveling, dabbling in photography, diving deep into personal growth, and geeking out on all things health and wellness. She is thrilled to be a collaborating partner with Integrative Family Medicine of Asheville and greatly looking forward to working with their wonderful practitioners and members.

Open Path Collective was founded in 2012, and launched in the spring of 2013, Open Path Psychotherapy Collective is a nationwide network of mental health professionals dedicated to providing in-office mental health care—at a steeply reduced rate—to individuals, couples, children, and families in need. Since our founding, Open Path has matched more than 9,000 clients across the country to affordable psychotherapeutic care. CoreyPine Shane, RH (AHG), Holistic Clinical Herbalist, is Director of the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine and has been helping clients since the early 1990s by artfully blending Chinese and Western herbal traditions with a focus on local plants. As a seasoned wildcrafter he has extensive knowledge of local plant identification as well as medicine making.
He is an expert on herbal first aid and has extensive experience as a Street Medic and Wilderness First Responder.

Kevin Pennell, is a licensed massage therapist with the State of North Carolina (LBMT #15765), a Professional Member of ABMP, and Board Certified nationally through NCBTMB. A graduate of New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts, Kevin practices integrated modalities of Clinical Massage Therapy including, TuiNa, Thai Massage, European Neuromuscular, Trigger Point Therapy, Acupressure, Active and Passive Release Techniques, Stretching, and Sports Massage. As a Clinical Herbalist, he applies the principles and works with Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and Western Herbology to support Mobility and Range of Motion. Kevin is also a Certified QiGong Instructor, and Reiki Sensei (Usui Reiki Master), with an earned Bachelor of Arts degree from Spurgeon College. As a healing facilitator for over 18 years, he devotes his life to to create balance and harmony into the lives of his clients through integrated therapies. Massage and Bodywork Appointments are available with Kevin at East West Healing Arts in West Asheville.

James Biddle, MD A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1989, Dr. Biddle completed his residency in Internal Medicine in Portland, Oregon, in 1992. Dr. Biddle is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and also certified in Chelation Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Massage, and Reiki. His passion is combining the best of conventional and cutting-edge medical care. He has special interests in clinical nutrition, hormones, toxic heavy metals, and hyperbaric oxygen treatments. His passions include permaculture and sustainability.

Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine: The goal of the Blue Ridge School is to teach students how to see in a new way, using the vision of traditional cultures from across the globe including Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and native plant medicine. And ultimately that vision is this – treat the person with the disease, not just the disease the person has. Simply said, but the knowledge, wisdom and intuition behind this paradigm shift take months to learn, and a lifetime of practice. Ultimately it is a new way of looking at life.
