Drs. Krisel and Lewis both share the ideals of sustainability, holism, service, and personal cultivation. They met through advocacy work while in medical school, and later became close friends while completing the Family Medicine residency program in Asheville, NC.
In residency they began discussing solutions for health care, community clinics, Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine. They wanted to create a model clinic that would demonstrate a simple, transparent, integrative approach. They selected the best, evidence-based elements from conventional Western medicine and complimentary or traditional healing arts. They sourced effective practices from education, responsible business, public health, and environmental sustainability. They then created a hybrid model that provides integrative family medicine at rates that are accessible to all people, including uninsured and under-insured populations. They are able spend more time with patients and address the roots of their concerns for the price of the average co-pay.
